The Audio Behind Dermot Kennedy’s ‘The Weight of the Woods Tour’
United Kingdom– Solotech is delighted to have supplied the audio package for Dermot Kennedy’s The Weight of the Woods Tour. In 2026, Solotech supplied the audio package across England, Scotland and Europe, as well as the control package throughout the North American leg.
Dermot Kennedy has been a long-term client of Solotech’s, with Luther Edmonds, Solotech Senior Account Manager, overseeing the relationship between the artist and Solotech. Reflecting on the long-standing relationship, Edmonds said: “We have worked with the Dermot Kennedy camp for many years now and it’s been a positive experience again for our team and myself.”
For the arena dates, Solotech supplied an L-Acoustics sound system consisting of K1 and K2 loudspeakers.
At Front of House, Engineer Will Donbavand used a DiGiCo Quantum 338 from Solotech, while Monitor Engineer Michael Fitzsimons opted for a Quantum 5.
The system design was also an important part of the preparation, with Donbavand explaining: “Chris Drew is my systems engineer, and has worked with the suppliers on the initial design to get it to where we want it.”
Alongside the equipment and system design, the crew played an important role in delivering the tour. Fitzsimons worked with Dominic Green as his Monitor Technician, with Green responsible for controlling 64 Audio in-ear monitors and 80 channels of RF.
“He is integral to the running of the show; there are nearly 150 physical inputs – he is absolutely fantastic,” Fitzsimons said.
Edmonds also highlighted the importance of having the right crew in place: “Crew, in my mind, is one of, if not the most important things to deliver well. If you haven’t got the right people and dynamic it can really make or break a tour. We are pleased to have such a strong team with great relationships on this one.”
Edmonds had a strong relationship with both Dominic Green and Chris Drew prior to the tour, which supported the planning and delivery of the complex audio package. He said: “We were very happy to have Dom Green looking after the control side, who, although contracted directly by production, has worked with Solotech for a long time. Having a close working relationship makes all the difference when planning what is a complex package and means communication between the engineers, techs and supplier is excellent including when changes need to be made.”
He added: “System and FOH minder duties have been covered by Chris Drew who, as one of our full-time team, is a huge asset. Chris was joined by Matt Benton and Gerry Carrick to complete the PA crew, both experienced and excellent technicians meaning we had a very strong team on the road.”
