A screen into a lifetime of music

Having supported Elton John’s tours since March of 2017 Solotech is honored and pleased to be supporting the video needs of this historic final tour. The team behind the dynamic production includes designers Patrick Woodroffe and Ray Winkler/Stufish, creative directors David Furnish, Tony King, and Sam Pattinson, production manager George Hoadley, and tour director Keith Bradley. Solotech worked closely with the team as they looked to take fans on a spectacular journey through John’s amazing career on the road with music and visuals.

Woodroffe and Winkler’s design features LED screens consisting of Saco 6mm LED modules to create an immense back wall of LED video. A central part of the tour’s impact, Patrick Woodroffe noted in an interview that, “There was an understanding that, although the production had to be logistically practical, it also had to be spectacular and emotional. The large screen would obviously be the focus of the stage design, as it is used not just for I-Mag but also as a way to tell the story of Elton’s life and career.”

As well as the LED video screen, Solotech also provided the full camera and control package engineered and maintained by the Solotech crew of eight who are out on the tour, including the crew chief Kim Hampton and the system engineer Nick Ruoco. For the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, the Solotech account representative is Paul Becher.
